Selvaggio Blue Trek No Ropes: Authentic Baunei Adventure

Selvaggio Blue without rope passages! Thrilling trek between sea and mountain, with local guides and logistics. Authentic adventure in Supramonte Baunei.

A journey through ancient trails and centuries-old traditions, discovering shepherds' lives and the millenary culture of a wild and fascinating land

Selvaggio Blue Trek No Ropes

Through Supramonte of Baunei, we'll walk together the Selvaggio Blu itinerary in its variant without rope passages, avoiding the extremely technical parts.

Accompanied by our exclusively Baunei guides, who know the territory and its history and culture, we'll walk a path that follows as closely as possible the original Wild Blue, without affecting its essence and spectacular nature.

We'll retrace a territory that for centuries has been on the margins of history, immobile in its centuries-old customs, where local shepherds have adapted to the harshness and ruggedness of its rocks, water scarcity, and the presence of the sea - a fascinating blue expanse that brought corsairs and misfortunes.

Although without rope passages, the harshness and difficulty remain, due to the rocky terrain's roughness, stage lengths, and temperature, therefore good hiking preparation is required.

We'll also be happy to handle all aspects of your experience: Wild Blue logistics, baggage transfer, breakfast and dinner service, packed lunch, and overnight stays.

Upon request, we can customize stages, including rope descents if there's an expert person in your group.

Selvaggio Blue Trek No Ropes

1DAY 1
ARRIVAL
Group arrival in Baunei or Santa Maria Navarrese (depending on the location of the accommodation you have chosen), introductions and travel briefing.
2DAY 2
Stage 1 – from Pedra Longa to Gennirco – 8 km

This stage unfolds around Mount Giradili, the second-highest sea cliff in Europe at 757 metres above sea level.
The ascent to the summit takes place via the passage at Forrola, with a stop for a swim at Cala Fenile.
We then climb back up along the Giradili ledge to the shepherds’ hut of Us Piggus and continue on to Punta Giradili.
The day ends at Gennirco, with dinner and an overnight stay in tents.
3DAY 3
Stage 2 – from Gennirco to Portu Porru ’e Campu – 8 km This stage is mostly downhill, though not without a few short ascents, as the finish point is at Capo di Monte Santu, with a total descent of about 800 metres.
After an initial stretch along a mule track, the route continues through rougher, rockier terrain, culminating in the passage along the edge of the Sisiera cliff (a 310-metre sheer drop above the sea), the crossing of the juniper ladder at Baccu Tenadili, and the arrival at the fjord of Portu Porru ’e Campu, with time for a swim at the small beach.
The luggage will arrive by sea, the overnight bivouac will be set up on site, dinner will be prepared there, and we will stay overnight.
4DAY 4
Stage 3 – from Portu Porru ’e Campu to Su Porteddu – 14 km

We head deeper into the Gulf of Orosei, with continuous ascents and descents shaped by the different baccus (valleys and gullies) that carve through the limestone rock of the Supramonte.
Along the way, several panoramic viewpoints open up over the sea cliffs, including Serra d’Argius and the better-known Serra Salinas, from whose 460 metres above sea level we will enjoy views of Cala Goloritzè and its distinctive pinnacle.
We then descend to the beach for a swim, following scree slopes and mule tracks, before the final climb of +500 metres up to the Golgo plateau and the equipped area of Su Porteddu.
During the stage, passing through the ancient shepherds’ hut of Fenos Trainos offers an opportunity to tell the story of the hard life once led by the shepherds of Baunei on these rugged rocks. Setting up the tents for the overnight stay and dinner at a traditional local restaurant.
5DAY 5
Stage 4 – from Su Porteddu to Ololbissi – 14 km

We head back towards the sea, reaching and following Serra Maore, before descending along the switchbacks of the Ispuligedenie forest to Cala Mariolu.
There will be a stop for a swim, followed by a short dinghy transfer to Portu Mudaloru.
From there, a steep ascent leads up to the pass of Urele and to a panoramic viewpoint that allows us to look out over the heart of the Baunei coast, in the Biriala area.
Arrival at the Ololbissi rest area. Setting up the tents for the overnight stay and dinner at the campsite.
6DAY 6
Stage 5 – from Ololbissi to Cala Sisine – 12 km Passing along a series of typical juniper ladders, we will reach the larger area known as Biriala. After taking in the view of the beach of the same name, we cross the three large forests that characterize it: Bilariccoro, Su Saltu Mannu and Orronnoro.
From here, by following a little-known route once used by charcoal burners and taking advantage of the passage opened by a recent landslide, we avoid the abseils of Plummare, while still being able to enjoy the new little beaches created by the landslides themselves.
We then climb back up through the Plummare forest and look out over the finish point of our Selvaggio Blu: Cala Sisine, which we reach by a quick descent.
Setting up the tents for the overnight stay and dinner at the traditional local restaurant Su Coile.
7DAY 7
Free day for the group
Return by dinghy along the coast to the port of Santa Maria. On request, it is possible to arrange a recreational day. We suggest a boat trip along the Baunei coast on our dinghies, allowing us to retrace the trekking route in reverse and relax while enjoying the beauty of our coastline.
